Orlando Marin, born February 20, 1935, in the Bronx, New York, was a Latin
percussionist known for his contributions to Latin jazz and mambo. He formed his
first band, Eddie Palmieri and His Orchestra, in the early 1950s. Marin's early
career included performances with various bands at the Palladium Ballroom. In
1954, he released his first composition, "My Mambo" on a 78 rpm record. Notable
releases include Se Te Quemó La Casa (1961) and Saxophobia (1970). He was
