Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment is a British period-instrument
orchestra founded in 1986 in London, England. The group's debut concerts took
place in June 1986 in Oxford and London under the baton of Sigiswald Kuijken,
featuring compositions by Georg Philipp Telemann, Jean-Philippe Rameau,
François-Joseph Gossec, and Joseph Haydn. This performance established their
democratic artistic model, with the players guiding the artistic direction and
