Oran Etkin, born on May 18, 1979, in Israel, is a jazz and world music musician.
He began playing piano at age five and later studied clarinet with Yusef Lateef
and George Garzone. After moving to Boston, he attended Brandeis University and
earned a master's degree in jazz from the Manhattan School of Music. His
interest in Malian music led to his debut album Kelenia (2009) on Motéma Music,
featuring musicians from Mali and a blend of jazz and traditional African
