Oneohtrix Point Never (real name Daniel Lopatin) is an American electronic
composer, producer, and musician born on July 25, 1982 in Wayland
(Massachusetts), and raised in a Russian-Jewish immigrant family. He began
experimenting with synthesizers as a teenager, inspired by sci-fi soundtracks,
new-age music, and underground noise scenes. Emerging in the late 2000s with a
series of vaporous, synth-driven ambient albums—most notably Rifts (2009) and
Returnal (2010)—he quickly became a central figure in experimental electronic
