Oliviero De Fabritiis was an Italian conductor and composer born on June 13,
1902, in Rome. He studied music with Licinio Refice and Setaccialo before
performing his debut at the Teatro Nazionale in 1920. De Fabritiis served as
artistic secretary at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma between 1932 and 1943. In
1937, he inaugurated summer performances at the Baths of Caracalla with the
opera Lucia di Lammermoor. He conducted in Verona from 1948 until 1980. De
Fabritiis collaborated with Beniamino Gigli for recordings of Andrea Chénier,
