Octave One
Octave One, a Detroit‑based electronic music group formed by brothers Lenny and
Lawrence Burden, emerged from the city’s techno scene in the early 1990s; the
duo, along with their siblings Lorne, Lynell, and Lance, founded the independent
label 430 West in 1990, contributing to Detroit’s second‑wave techno movement.
Their breakthrough came with the 1989 single "I Believe" on Derrick May’s
Transmat, followed by the Octivation EP in 1991, which established their
