Muriel Alves—popularly known as O Muriel—was born in Goianésia, Goiás, and
received his first guitar at age eight, beginning his musical journey amidst
church gatherings and family performances. By 13, he was singing at school
events, and at 14 he won his first major talent contest at a police military
school's festival. At 17 he self-recorded his debut CD in Goiânia, gaining local
traction with “Vagabundo Cachaceiro.” By 20, he won songwriter and vocalist
