The Norrbotten Big Band, a Swedish big band founded in 1986, emerged under the
artistic direction of jazz composer Örjan Fahlström until 1996, who integrated
organ and big‑band textures in works such as Animations (1994). The ensemble
released the albums Future North (1998) and Future Miles (2002) under the
guidance of Tim Hagans, blending big‑band jazz with drum‑and‑bass and hip‑hop
elements. Subsequent projects included The Avatar Sessions (2009), featuring
