Norbert Susemihl
Norbert Susemihl, born August 26, 1956 in Hamburg, Germany, is a German musician
and bandleader of traditional jazz. He began on guitar at 14 with the Shepherds,
switched to trumpet in 1971 and formed Papa Tom's Lamentation Jazzband. After
trips to New Orleans in 1978–79 and a 1980 residency, he returned through all of
the 1980s for four months every year to study the city’s style. In 1986, he
founded Norbert Susemihl’s Arlington Annex. In 2002, he launched
Norbert Susemihl’s Joyful Gumbo in Denmark.
