Nitty Gritty
Nitty Gritty, born Glen Augustus Holness in 1957 in Kingston, Jamaica, was a
Jamaican reggae singer. After performing with The Soulites in the early 1970s,
he launched a solo career, recording for producers including Sugar Minott,
George Phang, and King Jammy. His breakthrough came in 1985 with "Hog inna
Minty," the first recorded version of the traditional Jamaican folk song. He
followed with successful releases including Turbo Charged (1986), General
