Nelu Ploiesteanu
Ion Dumitrache, known professionally as Nelu Ploiesteanu, was a Romanian lăutar,
singer, and fiddler of lăutărească music. Born on December 16, 1950 in Ciorani,
Prahova Region, Romania, he began playing the accordion at age six and performed
for money on piano. In 1970, Dumitrache moved to Bucharest and made his
international debut on tours in 1979. He released several albums including Am
Iubit Și-am Să Iubesc (2003) and Într-o Vinere, Spre Seară (2015). His final
public performance was on March 8, 2021 in Slănic-Moldova. Dumitrache passed
away on April 2, 2021 at Floreasca Hospi...
