Born in Yozgat on July 24, 1948, Turkish singer and actor Tahir Nejat
Özyılmazel—known professionally as Neco—entered music in the mid-1960s after
joining Altınparmaklar Orchestra (1964) and working as a vocalist with other
Istanbul dance bands in that era. He began issuing records in the 1970s, with
early singles including “Gülmeyi Unutan Adam / Ne Bu Halimiz Böyle” (1974) and
follow-ups such as “Onlar / Pam Pam” (1975), building a pop repertoire that
