Ne-Yo
Shaffer Chimere Smith, known professionally as Ne-Yo, was born on October 18,
1979, in Camden, Arkansas, and was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. After an early
stint in the group Envy, he broke through as a songwriter in the mid-2000s when
Mario’s “Let Me Love You,” which he co-wrote, became a major hit. Signing to Def
Jam, Ne-Yo released his debut album In My Own Words in 2006, led by “So Sick,”
