French duo Native are undoubtedly one of the spearheads of French soul music in
the 90s. The two sisters of West Indian origin, Laura and Chris Mayne, released
an album of the same name in 1993, including the chart-topping single " Si la
vie demande ça ". Strongly influenced by American soul and R&B, the Native
sisters won a Victoire de la Musique award for best newcomer in 1994..
