Nakia Daniel Reynoso, known professionally as Nakia, was born on February 20,
1975, in Fort Payne, Alabama, and is an American musician, singer-songwriter,
and actor whose career began in Chicago, where he interned for Aware Records
before relocating to Austin in 2002. He first attracted attention with the EP
Playing the Cards (2007) and later released his debut full‑length album Water to
