Australian alternative rock band, Motor Ace, formed in Melbourne around 1998
from the remnants of another band named Snowblind. The group consisted of
Patrick "Patch" Robertson (vocals/guitar), Damian Birchall Costin (drums), Matt
Balfe (bass), and Dave Ong (guitar). Motor Ace began their recording career with
a self-titled EP in April 1999, produced by Paul McKercher. The band was part of
Festival Mushroom Records' development label Sputnik, which launched that same
