Monika Rost
Monika Rost (born February 21, 1943, in Dresden) is a German classical
guitarist, lutenist, and musicologist. She attended the Musikgymnasium Schloss
Belvedere and studied at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar under
Ursula Peter, Johann Cilenšek, and Werner Hübschmann. Rost served as a professor
of guitar at the Weimar institution for more than 20 years and led the Institute
of Guitar for nearly a decade. Her notable students include Nora Buschmann,
