Mate Kovač, known as Mišo Kovač, is a Croatian recording artist. Kovač was born
in Sebenico, Governorate of Dalmatia, Kingdom of Italy. A breakthrough came in
1964 after winning the Prvi glas Šibenika competition, which led to a contract
with Jugoton and the first single “I Can't Stop Loving You” (1964). Success
followed with records including “Ja odlazim” (1965), “Vrijeme plakanja” (1965),
and “San Francisco” (1965). A collaboration with composer Đorđe Novković began
in 1969 with the hit “Više se nećeš vratiti” (1969), which sold over 183,000
