born on November 21, 1944. He moved to the Bronx, New York and initially studied
violin before transitioning to bass guitar professionally in New York City. His
work was notably influenced by Mongo Santamaria. Cardona's extensive discography
includes notable albums such as Bembé (1986), Cambucha (1999), and
collaborations with artists like Kip Hanrahan, Paul Simon, Willie Colón, David
Byrne, Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz, and Jack Bruce from the rock band Cream.
