Miley Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992, in Franklin,
Tennessee, and grew up near Nashville as the daughter of country singer Billy
Ray Cyrus. After appearing in her father’s television series Doc, she was cast
as Miley Stewart in Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, which premiered in 2006 and
generated multiple chart-topping soundtracks. She began establishing a separate
recording identity with Meet Miley Cyrus in 2007, followed by Breakout in 2008
and the 2009 EP The Time of Our Lives, whose single “Party in the U.S.A.”
