Miguel Matamoros, born on May 8, 1894, in Santiago de Cuba, was a Cuban musician
and composer. He began his musical journey at age 16 by composing "El Consejo",
a bolero. In 1925, he formed the Trio Matamoros with Siro Rodríguez and Rafael
Cueto, marking a significant breakthrough in his career. The trio's first
recording was released in 1928, and they went on to perform extensively across
Latin America and the United States. In 1960, Matamoros retired from his musical
career following a tour of the United States. He passed away on April 15, 1971,
