Michel Martelly is a Haitian musician and politician who was born in 1961.
Professionally known as “Sweet Micky”, he achieved professional prominence as a
pioneer of the “new generation” style of kompa music, characterized by the use
of synthesizers and electronic instruments. Martelly began a recording career in
1988 and released his debut single, “Ou La La”, followed by the studio albums
Woule Woule (1989) and Anba Rad La (1990). His discography includes the
recordings I Don't Care (1994), Pa Manyen (1995), and Tout Cé Mately (1996).
