Michel de Villers, born Michel de Villers de Montaugé on July 13, 1926, in
Villeneuve-sur-Lot, France, was a French jazz saxophonist. He began playing the
alto saxophone autodidactically and started his professional career in 1943. He
collaborated with Django Reinhardt in 1946 and accompanied him on a tour of
Switzerland that same year. In the late 1950s, he transitioned to playing the
baritone saxophone and worked with artists like Jack Diéval and André Persiany.
