Michel Attenoux was a French jazz saxophonist and bandleader born in 1930 in
Paris. He played piano before switching to the soprano saxophone, and formed his
own ensemble in 1951. In 1953, he became the jazz bandleader at Metro Jazz
(later renamed Les Trois Mailletz) in Paris, performing with notable figures
like Sidney Bechet and James Archey. He played the soprano saxophone in Bechet's
orchestra in 1958, and performed on television variety shows throughout the
