Michael Harrison

Michael Harrison, born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, is an American contemporary classical music composer and pianist. He grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.M. in Composition. Harrison designed the "harmonic piano" in 1986, a modified grand piano capable of playing 24 notes per octave, described as a landmark in Western tuning. He has been a serious student of Indian music under Pandit Pran Nath and Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan.
