Meskerem Mees, born July 15, 1999, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is a Belgian
singer-songwriter. Adopted at ten months old, she studied in Ghent and at the
MUDA Atheneum for Performing Arts before further developing her creative skills
at Vestjyllands Højskole in Denmark. In 2013, Mees began her music career by
participating in the competition Who will be Junior? She released her debut
single "Joe" in 2020, which reached Number 1 in De Afrekening and won the
Montreux Jazz Talent Awards (2021) and the Music Moves Europe Award (Grand Jury
