Raequel Miller, known professionally as Mercedes, is an American singer and
rapper born on May 1, 1978, in Detroit. Miller performed Shirley Murdock's “As
We Lay” at a talent show at Xavier University in New Orleans, where she met the
ensemble Kane & Abel. This led to a recording contract with No Limit Records.
Miller released her debut studio recording, Rear End, on June 29, 1999. The
album featured appearances by Mystikal, Mac, Mia X, and Master P. The recording
reached number 34 on the Billboard 200 and number 12 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop
