Melanie Jayne Chisholm, better known as Melanie C, Mel C or "Sporty Spice"
during her adventure with the successful Spice Girls, to whom she owes her fame,
was born in Whiston (Lancashire) on January 14, 1974. She took advantage of a
break from the five singers to launch her own career, beginning with a duet with
Bryan Adams on the track "When You're Gone" (1998), then with the triple
platinum-selling Northern Star album (No. 4, 1999), which sold five million
copies and included the first single "Goin' Down" and the number ones "Never Be
the Same Again" with Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes...
