Melvin Huston McDaniel, known as Mel McDaniel, was born on September 6, 1942, in
Checotah, Oklahoma, and was a country music artist. Inspired by Elvis Presley,
he started playing guitar and made his professional debut at age 15. McDaniel
signed with Capitol Records in 1976 and released his first single, "Have a Dream
on Me". His breakthrough came with "Louisiana Saturday Night" in 1981. He
achieved significant chart success with hits like "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans
On", which reached Number 1 on the country chart, and other top-10 singles,
including "Big Ole Brew" and "I Call It ...
