Megan Slankard, born June 15, 1983 in Tracy, California, is an American
singer-songwriter. She began learning guitar at age 10 and produced her first
album, Lady Is a Pirate, at 17 with her brother. After turning 18, Slankard
toured Europe as the opening act for David Knopfler and co-wrote the song "Ship
of Dreams" with him. Her album Freaky Little Story was a top ten seller on
Amazon’s CD sales chart in 2003. Slankard released the EP A Little Extra Sun in
2005 and won the Independent Music Awards Vox Pop award for Best Cover Song in
