MC Flavinho, born Flávio dos Santos Amaral, is a Brazilian funk artist from
Santa Cruz in Rio de Janeiro’s West Zone. He had been active for several years
before breaking through in 2011 with “É o Mandela,” then moved into wider view
in the middle of the decade with “Arrocha da Penha,” a record closely tied to
producer Rennan da Penha and regularly cited as one of the songs that helped
