Max Boyce was born on September 27, 1943, in Glynneath, Wales. He was a
comedian, singer and entertainer who rose to fame in the mid-1970s with an act
that combined musical comedy with his passion for rugby union and his origins in
a South Wales mining community. Boyce's breakthrough came when EMI offered him a
two-album contract after hearing his first album, In Session (1971), and seeing
him in concert. The resulting live album, 'Live' at Treorchy (1974), brought
