Mavis Chloe Rivers, born on May 19, 1929 in Apia, Samoa, was a Samoan and New Zealand jazz singer. She began her recording career in 1952 with the Lloyd Sly Quartette at Stebbing Studios, releasing singles under labels such as Zodiac, Capitol and Stebbings. Rivers moved to the United States in 1954, where she married Filipino singer and bass player Glicerio Reyes "David" Catingub. Her debut album Take a Number was released by Capitol Records in 1959.
