Matthew White
Matthew White, born in 1973 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, is a countertenor known
for his contributions to classical music and opera. He began singing as a treble
with St Matthew's Men and Boys Choir in Ottawa and studied with Jan Simons in
Montreal, Quebec. White graduated with a degree in English Literature from
McGill University. In 1999, he co-founded the ensemble Les Voix Baroques,
specializing in Baroque and Renaissance music. On June 9, 2003, he sang the
roles of Evanthes and Bacchus in the first modern performance of Johann Georg
