Matthew Wadsworth is an English lutenist and theorist born in 1974 in
Manchester. At age 16, he became the first blind student at Chetham's School of
Music in Manchester. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Nigel North,
developing a Braille tablature system for the lute and winning the London
Student of the Year award in 1997. Wadsworth's career includes collaborations
with ensembles such as The Academy of Ancient Music and English Touring Opera.
