Matthew Bauder, born in 1976 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is an American jazz
saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in
jazz and contemporary improvisation at the University of Michigan and later
received a master’s degree in composition from Wesleyan University, where he
studied under Anthony Braxton. In 2003, Bauder released his debut album, Weary
Already of the Way. He later formed the long-form improvisational jazz trio
