Massimo Ranieri, born Giovanni Calone on 3 May 1951 in Borgo Santa Lucia,
Naples, emerged as an Italian singer, actor, television presenter, and theatre
director. His early exposure to music came through performances at local
restaurants and wedding receptions, and he was discovered by a music producer at
age ten, leading to a New York recording session under the name Gianni Rock.
Ranieri’s professional breakthrough occurred in 1966 with the single "Bene Mio",
