Mashrou' Leila is a Lebanese rock band from Beirut that formed in 2008. The
ensemble emerged from a music workshop at the American University of Beirut and
originally consisted of seven members, including vocalist Hamed Sinno and
violinist Haig Papazian. They achieved a breakthrough at the Fête de la musique
festival in 2008 and won the jury and public awards for the single “Raksit
Leila” (2009). Their debut eponymous studio album, Mashrou' Leila, was released
