Mashrou' Leila is a Lebanese rock band from Beirut that formed in 2008. The ensemble emerged from a music workshop at the American University of Beirut and originally consisted of seven members, including vocalist Hamed Sinno and violinist Haig Papazian. They achieved a breakthrough at the Fête de la musique festival in 2008 and won the jury and public awards for the single “Raksit Leila” (2009).
