Marty Haugen
Marty Haugen, born December 30, 1950 in Wanamingo, Minnesota, is an American
composer of liturgical music. Raised in the American Lutheran Church, he became
a worship leader at a Catholic parish in Minnesota in 1973 and began composing
contemporary hymns due to dissatisfaction with some of the music he was required
to lead. Haugen's notable works include "Gather Us In" and "Shepherd Me, O God,"
published by GIA Publications. His compositions also include Holden Evening
Prayer and settings for the Catholic Mass, including Mass of Creation. He has
