Martin Arnold (born in 19 August 1959, in Edmonton) is a Canadian composer of
experimental music. He studied at the University of Alberta, the Banff Centre,
and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague before completing a PhD at the
University of Victoria in 1995. Arnold established a reputation for a musical
style he termed “slack,” characterized by atonal melodies and novel instrumental
combinations. Influenced by filmmaker Trinh T. Minh-ha, his compositions
included the 110-minute work "Burrow Out; Burrow In; Burrow Music" (1995).
