Marsha Hunt, born on April 15, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an
American singer. Raised primarily by her mother and grandmother, she moved to
Kensington, California, in 1960. She began her music career as a backing singer
with Alexis Korner's trio Free at Last after moving to London in February 1966.
Her breakthrough came when she appeared as Dionne in the rock musical Hair on
the London stage in 1968, which was a box-office smash and attracted significant
