Marisa Anderson, born in Northern California, is an American guitarist and
composer based in Portland, Oregon. She began playing guitar at age ten,
influenced by her parents' diverse musical tastes. After dropping out of
Humboldt State University, Anderson spent a decade traveling the United States
and Mexico and participating in political protests. Her first solo album,
Holiday Motel, was released by 16 Records in 2006, earning her a nomination for
the OUTMusic Award for Best Female Debut Record. She followed this with The
