Marika Gombitova

Mária Gombitová, known professionally as Marika Gombitová, was born on September 12, 1956, in Turany nad Ondavou, Czechoslovakia, and is a singer and composer. She began her musical journey at the age of nine with piano lessons and later joined an amateur band called Profily during high school. In 1975, she made her first recordings for Slovak Radio Košice. Gombitová's breakthrough came when she joined the professional group Modus in 1976, releasing several singles as a backing vocalist before launching her solo career with "Boľavé Námestie" in 1977.
