Mariana Ramos
Mariana Ramos, born in Dakar on March 12, 1975, is a Senegal‑born Cape Verdean
singer. She first appeared on stage in her teens with her father, Toy Ramos, and
later in a local rock group, before recording her debut album Di dor em or in
2000. Her album, Bibia (2004), followed, showcasing collaborations with Téofilo
Chantre and Ano Nobo. She continued with Mornador (2008), Suavidança (2011), and
Quinta (2015). She earned the Cabo Verde Music Award for Best Morna Artist in
2016, and her 2020 album Morna was highlighted by UNESCO as part of the world
heritage list.
