María de Lourdes Pérez López, born December 30, 1933, in Mexico City, Mexico,
was an actress and singer of regional Mexican music, including mariachi,
ranchera, and other genres. She began singing at an early age and released her
first single with Peerless Records in 1955 after participating in the radio
program Buscando una Estrella. Her career took off around 1960 when she
performed at the Varcisity Club in London, leading to international tours
