Mauro Gurlino is an Italian singer-songwriter, actor, and radio host born on
April 16, 1971, in Turin. Known professionally as Mao, he began his career in
1987. During the 1990s, he performed as the leader of the ensemble Mao e la
Rivoluzione, which released the studio recordings Sale (1996) and Casa (1997)
through Virgin Records. The group participated in the Festival di Sanremo in
1997 with the track “Romantico” and performed as an opening act for Oasis.
