Manuel Barrueco began playing the guitar at age eight and studied at the
Conservatorio Esteban Salas. In 1967, he emigrated to the United States and
later studied under Aaron Shearer at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. At
22, Barrueco won the Concert Artists Guild Award in 1974 and made his debut at
New York's Carnegie Recital Hall. His international career included performances
at notable venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein,
Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, and Berlin’s Philharmonie. Notable recordings include
