Birgit Winter, known professionally as Mandy Winter, was born on September 25,
1968, in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Germany. She grew up with her parents Brigitte and
Manfred Winter in the Munich district of Fasanerie-Nord and attended the
Sophie-Scholl-Gymnasium. Her breakthrough came with the anti-drug song "Julian",
which was released in 1987. The single spent 23 weeks on the German charts,
