Wesley Williams, known professionally as Maestro Fresh-Wes, was born on March
31, 1968, in Toronto, Ontario. He is a Canadian rapper, singer, record producer,
and actor. His interest in hip hop began at age 11. In 1983, he adopted the name
Maestro Fresh-Wes and recorded independent demos. His breakthrough came in 1989
with the release of "Let Your Backbone Slide", which became the first single
from a Canadian hip hop artist to go gold. This success was followed by his
