Maddi Oihenart, born in Barcus, Soule, France, in 1956, is a French-Basque
singer. She began singing at a young age but officially started her career at
40. In 1987, she participated in the Euskal Kantu Txapelketa (Basque Singing
Championship) alongside Battitta Sobiet. Oihenart initially performed a cappella
in public spaces and bars in Soule before collaborating with musicians like
Mixel Etxekopar and Mixel Arotze on albums such as "Lürralde zilarra" (1998) and
